Our Founder & Executive Director

At 16, Isis Sapp-Grant was the leader of one of the worst girl gangs in Brooklyn’s history. After the gang-related shooting death of her boyfriend, she was inspired to turn her life around.

With the help of a local police officer and concerned school teachers, Isis finished high school, completed her college education, and earned her MSW.

She founded YEM as a vehicle where she could use her life experience and knowledge to bring together people who were equally as passionate about helping young people. Furthering her desire to make a difference in the lives of young women, Isis started the Blossom Program for Girls in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, a neighborhood that has one of the highest rates of gang and youth-related violence in New York City.
